Blüesli with Bianca & Roland (August 30th)

Join Bianca & Roland for a day of Blues dancing, partner connection, musicality, and social dancing.

Blues for swing dancers

Join Bianca & Roland for a day of Blues dancing designed especially for swing dancers—followed by social dancing to put your new skills into practice.

This weekend is for intermediate+ swing dancers ready to explore Blues, expand their movement vocabulary, and discover ideas they can bring straight into their Lindy Hop, Balboa, and Solo Jazz.

Your teachers: Bianca & Roland

Bianca has more than 15 years of experience in different dance styles, but it’s in 2016 that she became addicted to swing and blues dancing, and started to travel to festivals all over Europe. Since then she has taught locally in Italy and Switzerland and in international events.

Roland has been dancing Swing and Blues for over 10 years. He is passionate about music, rhythms and movements. He sees Blues dancing as a conversation between two partners based on the common alphabet of music and the grammatical rules of body language.

Roland & Bianca met in 2018 and have been teaching together since then, both in Switzerland and at international events. Together they create a fun learning environment where you will first explore the technical and cultural aspects of blues dancing before expressing yourself in your own personal way.

The values they emphasize in classes are respect, creativity and the joy of connection.

Class Descriptions

Solo Blues – Just dance: a solo blues journey

A movement-first journey through the many sounds, rhythms, and styles of solo blues. We’ll keep explanations short and spend most of the class dancing along—starting with simple ideas and gradually layering in rhythm, texture, shape, and complexity.

Come ready to move, explore, and let the music lead the way.

Great not only to learn some blues, but also:

  • to add some groove to your solo dancing
  • to get comfortable dancing solo on very slow, and very fast music

Partnered Blues – Ballroomin’ : Comfortable Close Embrace, Dips & Dramatic Tricks

Ever felt awkward in close embrace—or worried that getting too close might feel uncomfortable? Fear no more! In this class, we’ll explore all the ways close embrace can feel awkward… and fix them.

Starting from a relaxed, comfy connection, we’ll work on traveling, changing direction, and shifting axes without losing that amazing connection. And once we’ve built a solid foundation, we’ll start playing with some fancy dips and tricks for added drama.

Great not only to learn some blues, but also:

  • If you feel lost when a slow (swing) song comes up
  • If you want to improve your pure bal connection
  • If you want to add some drama in your swing or slow bal

Partnered Blues – Fall in love with Latin blues

When the latin rhythms meet blues music, we can sometimes get a little bit confused. Don’t worry we got you covered! In this class, we’ll equip you with everything necessary to finally start a passionate affair with those latin blues songs.

After listening to some of the most common and recognizable latin rhythms, we will find a basic step that works for you before adding more latin flavor into your dance.

Great not only to learn some blues, but also:

  • If you feel lost when a swing song with a Latin flavor comes up
